Course Outline 

In this era of high level of globalization and digitalization, everyone needs to have a notion of security measures and also, how to behave rightly when manipulating and even, storing of data. The course on ICT security is very essential as it focuses on how an organization needs to protect information/data assets against loss, damage, disclosure, disruption, modification and unauthorized access. Participants will understand the importance of ICT security, identify types of threats and even, how to prevent  and safeguarding IT infrastructure against attacks. 

Course Objectives

The objectives of the course are to enable participants to:

• Understanding the importance of ICT and its different type of threats;
• Understand the policies and procedures of ICT and how to manage passwords;
• Prevent ICT incidents and to be able report them to the appropriate entities;
• Understand the relevant ICT related laws.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Describe the types of threats their computer and data may be subject to;
• Follow the basic steps that can be taken to counter those ICT security threats;
• Describe and apply proper password management;
• Understand why it is important to follow security measures;
• Be aware of ICT policies and procedures in place within the Civil Service;
• Be aware of ICT related laws in Mauritius.
