Course Description 

The purpose of the First Aid course is to train individuals in the skills necessary to recognize and provide first aid care for injuries and sudden illness until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. An accident can happen anytime and it is important to have at least a basic knowledge of First Aid.

The topics to be covered are:

• First-aid essentials
• CPR & AED
• Respiratory problems
• Heart & Circulatory
• Wounds & Bleeding
• Musculoskeletal injuries
• Environmental injuries
• Nervous System
• Options: Medical problems Occupational hazards
• Air travel problems

Course Objectives  

The objectives of the course are to enable participants to:

• Provide necessary help for breathing emergencies; 
• Perform Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to victims of sudden cardiac arrest; 
• Provide first aid care for injuries and sudden illness;
• Acquire knowledge in first aid.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• To attend to a case of casualty;
• Provide necessary first aid in case of emergency situations;
• Ensure that casualty is well maintained until any necessary medical assistance is provided through emergency response unit by the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life / any medical practioner;
• Understand the importance of providing help whenever an accident happens.
