Course Outline 

The thematic of gender has become a debatable issue in society and an important dimension in the analysis and the design of socio-economic policies. As gender equity is increasingly viewed as a pillar for sustainable economic development and social well-being, alternative models to development which incorporate women’s equality. Nowadays, it is about gender mainstreaming at all level of society and most importantly, at workplace. 

Course Objectives 

The objectives of the course are to enable participants to:

• Gain deeper understanding of the concept of gender and gender mainstreaming
• Take cognisance of the significance of gender analysis and of gender equality in everyday life and work contexts
• Become familiar with the different indexes and measures of gender equality
• Become aware of the international and regional human rights instruments focussing on gender equality and women empowerment
• Understand the gender priorities and gender issues in Mauritius
• Become familiar with the National Gender Policy Framework
