Course Title: History of Printing

 

The CSCM is partnering with the Fashion and Design Institute (FDI) to widen access for individuals/students wishing to enrol for the course on History of Printing.

 

Course Outline 

 

This course is designed to support learners to better understand world history events on the printing aspects. It introduces the theme of the birth and dissemination of the press in the world, the elements of continuity within the world of book production. How the printing techniques differs during centuries where manuscript book from the first decades of diffusion of works following Gutenberg's invention of the printing press. Along a chronological arc from 3000 BC to this century, the course aims to understand the production and circulation of literary texts. The history of the press is in fact located at the intersection of disciplines such as bibliographic studies, history, literature, sociology, and anthropology, all present in the educational path of the Course of Studies.

 

 

Objectives 

  • To introduce students to the study of print culture and to understand the literature and the influences of this field.
  • To understand the evolution of both print and digital culture.
  • To provide intellectual and historical context for the history of printing culture as information for students and professionals.
  • To understand the impact of printing on society.
