Course Description
Legal provisions require compliance. The Public Sector has Ministries and Departments that have to ensure compliance of law prescribed by the public. Any deferment from compliance implies sanctions and prosecution by the officers of the Ministry. This course provides a background of the Mauritian legal system and how prosecution can be undertaken in case of law breaking by public.
The topics to be covered are:
- The Mauritian Legal System
- Functions and powers of the Director of Public Prosecution.
- Duties of Prosecutors.
- The prosecution process.
Course Objectives
The objectives of the course are to enable participants to:
- Understand the court system in Mauritius as well as the general legal system.
- Understand the criminal justice system of Mauritius;
- Develop a knowledge on the legal system of Mauritius
- Know the process of investigation and prosecution.
- Develop prosecutorial knowledge and skills for prosecuting law defaulters.
