This course is to develop your understanding of quality management principles, frameworks, tools and techniques for effective real life applications in the public sector. Reforms in the Government, increasing competition, rapid applications of information technologies, dynamic business environment present a number of challenges to public organisations to provide high quality of service. Quality thus remains an overriding concern in the public service sector, who faces the challenge in providing an attractive public service within the constraints of limited financial resources.

 

 

 

Course Objectives 

 

The objectives of the course are to enable participants to:

  • to understand the basics of Quality and Total Quality Management (TQM)
  • to understand the concepts, tools, methods and techniques of TQM
  • to understand the service system, Service Quality model and gaps
  • use of tools and techniques for setting up effective measures for quality improvement
  • to understand the Quality Management System and its principles
  • to understand the basic of ISO and its benefits

  • Describe, distinguish and use the several techniques and quality management tools.

  • Identify the elements that are part of the quality measuring process in the industry.
  • Predict the errors in the measuring process, distinguishing its nature and the root causes.
  • Justify whether or not a measuring process fulfils the established quality requirements.
  • Understand and calculate the correction and uncertainty parameters as a result of an instrument calibration.
  • Explain the regulation and the phases of a quality system certification process.
