Course Outline 

Uncertainties in public policy impact directly on the results expected from the implementation of the policy. Successful risk assessment of public policy aims at reducing the influence of the uncertainties while at the same time enable the attainment of the public policy objectives. 

Course Objectives 

The objectives of the course are to enable participants to:

• Understand risks of public policy and the necessity for risk assessment.
• Define risk assessment and its four components, with specific reference to public policy.
• Understand the basic issues in public policy that require the adoption of risk assessment.
• Identify the key strengths and weaknesses of risk assessment as a public policy tool
• Understand how to address the issues of risks in public policy after successfully conducting risk assessment.
