Course Outline
Administrative reforms in the Public Service, as initiated by the Government, hinges on a philosophy towards enabling a high quality service that responds to the needs and expectations of the customers. Public Service efficiency is largely dependent upon how the Human Resource responds to the customers' needs and expectations. Human Resource Management in the Public Sector therefore should not necessarily be traditional which is mainly concerned with the operational but also be very much strategic. This course will enable the participants to understand the what, why and how of Strategic Human Resource Management in the Public Sector. It will focus on giving a strategic angle to the different stages of the HR process and establish the human resource in the Public Sector as a strategic resource.
