Webinar on UN Public Service Day 2021

The UN Public Service Day is celebrated on 23 June each year and focuses on recognizing ‘the value and virtue of public service to the community’, highlighting the contribution of public service in the overall socio-economic development process, recognizing the work of public servants, and encouraging young people to pursue careers in the public sector.

Indeed, this last decade is characterized with digital revolution that changed the way we live, communicate, work, and govern. Nowadays, technology and data driven innovations are omni-present and have increased the pace of our daily life, opened up information and elevated civil society voices and changed how we solve problems, design policy and deliver services. Thus, governments all over the world are obliged to re-adjust themselves under resource pressures and increasing citizen demands.  The unprecedented event of Covid-19 pandemic has evidentially urged public organisations to re-visit their modus-operandi so as to ensure business continuity as such introducing remote work in government, digital service delivery, virtual service teams, and even new initiatives.

The Ministry of Public Service, Administrative and Institutional Reforms in collaboration with the Civil Service College Mauritius (CSCM) organised a one-hour Webinar in the context of the United Nations Public Service Day. The theme set this year by the UN was: “Innovating the Future Public Service - New Government Models for a New Era to Reach the SDGs.”
